I provide a free 15 minute consultation to all prospective clients. The consultation is a time for you to ask questions and get to know me, in order to see if we would be a good fit. One of the best indicators of successful therapy, is the relationship between the therapist and client. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and affirming space for every client no matter their gender, age, ethnicity, culture, or sexual orientation. Individual Therapy

Individual counseling can assist in a wide range of categories such as learning to incorporate regulation techniques when experiencing anxiety or in shifting our perspective when experiencing depression. My role as a therapist is to assist you in working towards your goals by offering support and validation, as well as practical tools that will assist you in working towards achieving those goals. Much of my training and experience has been in working with individuals who have experienced trauma. What I have learned in each of the practice settings that I have worked in is that each person is unique and requires a slightly different approach. This is part of the reason why I routinely check in with individuals that I work with in order to determine what is working and what is not working in the therapeutic relationship, and shifting my approach when needed towards your goals in individual counseling.

EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal.  EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.
