Hello and welcome!

My name is Amber and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Oregon. I still find it odd talking about myself, just like the first day of school and the teacher makes you tell everyone three "unique facts" about yourself. Here are my three facts: I specialize in working with complex trauma, I love working with teens & adults, and I have a large plant collection! Keep reading to learn about myself, my training, and how I help clients in therapy.

About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Oregon providing tele-health services at this time. I work with many individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, and body image concerns. I am an all-inclusive provider who is gender affirming, culturally sensitive, sex positive, and disability affirming. My background is trauma based with a mind/body connection. I use different types of techniques to help you get grounded and work through issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, and PTSD.

I have much experience working with teens, families, and adults particularly around trauma and more severe symptoms of anxiety and depression. My experience has also brought me to working with those with addiction, chronic pain, comorbid disorders, body image issues, gender questions, self-harm, ADHD, Autism, and borderline personality disorder. I help people gain a better understanding of who they are and what is going on with their brain by providing insight as well as proper diagnosis when nothing has felt true for you. When it comes to trauma, many people are misdiagnosed due to lack of training and understanding how trauma effects the brain. I also work with many who are neurodivergent and didn’t find out until later in life, and that impacts our emotions and how we experience life. Without this component known many people feel invalidated in their experiences and shamed for things they struggle with day to day that is not their fault.

I offer gender affirming care by providing letters for clients who are seeking hormone replacement therapy and/or surgery. I am deeply committed to providing quality therapy and a truly safe space for those in the LGBTQIA+ community. As someone in this community, I know the many difficulties and struggles that is endured and it's important to have someone who can support you in a safe and confidential space. My sessions are free from judgement, stigma, fear, and I offer a sanctuary to bring your full and complete self.

I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help people process trauma and gain control over upsetting memories. I also believe attachment is extremely important when working through trauma, relationship concerns, and navigating life in general because it can cause a lot of struggles later in life when disrupted. I incorporate DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems), and somatic work into my practice. We’ll work collaboratively to design a treatment plan that works for you and address what’s bothering you now. We’ll start by learning how to gain control over your body and thoughts and by learning how your brain impacts different responses in your body. I’ll teach you how to take control, find relief, and gain confidence. Every person is unique, and I value the diversity in each person's individual needs and experiences.

I am a lifelong student of the human brain and how trauma impacts the body and mind. I bring a lot of trauma therapy interventions into my work. I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity. Events happened and you adapted and coped the best you could with certain unhealthy behaviors. You're fighting and deeply strong. Which means that I think you can unlearn those behaviors that no longer serve you and replace them with healthy ones. As a child, I suffered from my own trauma and issues. Through my own therapy, I learned how to handle my anxiety and depression and move past it so that it didn't have control over me. I don't discriminate against anyone and pride myself in cultural sensitivity and inclusion. I make it a point to participate in marches and community actions that support the LGBTQ community and BLM movement. If you want to learn more about how I can help, send me a message! I believe you're more than good enough, you're lovable, and deserving. You show courage and a desire to change. I will teach you tools to overcome your issues and create peace.
